There are three main categories when it comes to persuasive techniques that advertisers use: pathos, logos, and ethos.
PATHOS: Trying to evoke an emotional response from the consumer.
LOGOS: Using logic or reasoning in their advertising techniques.
ETHOS: Trying to convince the consumer that their product better, more reliable, honest, etc. Also by using celebrity endorsement.
THERE ARE ALSO SOME PERSUASIVE STRATEGIES THAT ADVERTISERS USE, THEY OFTEN USE THESE STRATEGIES AS WELL AS THE TECHNIQUES LISTED ABOVE TO CATCH THE INTEREST OF THE CONSUMER.

THERE ARE ALSO SOME PERSUASIVE STRATEGIES THAT ADVERTISERS USE, THEY OFTEN USE THESE STRATEGIES AS WELL AS THE TECHNIQUES LISTED ABOVE TO CATCH THE INTEREST OF THE CONSUMER.
AVANTE GARDE
This strategy suggests that it puts the consumer ahead of everyone else. If they are the "first to buy" the product, they will look cool and be a trend setter.
Weasel words
These are used to suggest a positive meaning for the product without actually having any guarantee for it. Ex. this product MIGHT make you lose weight or this cereal has UP TO 2 grams of protein.
Magic Ingredients
Advertisers use magic ingredients to make their product sound like a great discovery. For example, the special coating on this grass seed makes it grow 2 times faster than normal grass seed.
Patriotism
By purchasing this product you can show the love you have for your country. For example, maple syrup made in Canada.
Transfer
This is used to show that the product being sold has other positive purposes. For example, this shirt not only looks good, but it is made with a material that will keep you cool in the summer.
Plain folks
Advertisers use plain folk to suggest that this product is good and valuable for modern day people to use. An example of this is a family brand of cereal.
Snob Appeal
This is used to suggest that the product is used by an elite group in a glam and glorious lifestyle. An example of this is a type of chocolate being eaten by people dressed formally.
Bribery
Bribery is used to give your consumers something "extra" when they purchase your product. An example of this is cereal boxes that offer you a coupon to the movies inside of the box.
Bandwagon
Bandwagon suggests that you will be the only person without a product if you do not buy it. An example of this is when an ad says BUY NOW.
